The Deputy Secretary of the New Mexico Economic Development Department (EDD), has announced that a company in the New Mexico Borderplex, located in Las Cruces, has been granted a Science & Technology Business Startup Grant, receiving a financial award of $25,000.

These Science & Technology Business Startup Grants are designed for New Mexico-based for-profit companies specializing in science and technology with significant growth potential. Eligible businesses must operate in fields such as aerospace, biosciences, cybersecurity, intelligent manufacturing, or sustainable and green energy. The grant is specifically aimed at supporting companies that offer a unique product or service, possess a clear and compelling business proposition, demonstrate a scalable product and business model, have the potential to generate employment opportunities in New Mexico, attract private investment, and provide economic benefits to the state exceeding the award amount.

“Each year, EDD’s science and technology grants shine a spotlight on the cutting-edge innovation and discoveries taking place right here in the New Mexico Borderplex. The state takes pride in supporting these companies as they strive to commercialize and expand, and we eagerly anticipate our ongoing collaboration with them as they grow and create job opportunities for New Mexicans.”

The Office of Strategy, Science, and Technology (OSST) within EDD, along with the Technology Research Collaborative (TRC) Board, thoroughly evaluated over 70 applications in a highly competitive field. The TRC Board then presented final award recommendations to EDD leadership based on the grant’s potential utility and its capacity to make a positive community and economic impact in New Mexico.
